Should I bother with the story?

I am new to GTA 5. I have read mixed things about the story. Some people say at this point, it isn't even worth playing and I should just play online. Do I miss out on anything by doing this? Like will I not have access to things if I don't play the story?

As far as I know, you only have to go through the Prologue and then you can go online. Some say you can pause it and just go to the GTA online tab but it is worth completing it so you don't have to do this every time.

It depends. I mean if you are interested in playing it, then go for it but if you don't care, just go online. You aren't going to miss out on much. Like to me, the story was decent. It wasn't something I would ever play through a second time though.

I don't think you miss out on anything major. I know certain things are only unlocked online when you complete the story but I can't remember what those things are or if they changed it.

You will miss out on some lore and character information but it won't impact online at all. As far as I know, you don't even gain access to anything special for completing it. I think you just start with more money ?? But I could be misremembering this.

Ok. So I think I am just going to skip it then. I mean it seems kind of pointless to me right now. I have already been online and care more about that.

Yeah just play online. If you are curious about the story, just watch the cut scenes on Youtube. You can save time. It wasn't nothing special imo. They did better stories in other games.

I only just played the game for the first time recently. I got it last year. I played the story and really enjoyed it. I wanted to at least make it half way before I went online and ended up completing it.
