I started playing WD2 recently. I know, I am rather late to it considering it came out in 2016 lol

I think because I had been playing GTA 5 and other games at the time, I did not think to actually play this. Now I find GTA 5 - in comparison and for lack of a better word - underwhelming. The amount of smaller details in WD2 is insane and comparing both makes me wish I had played back then.

How do the two games compare for you?

I played both and there are things I like more about Watch Dogs 2 for sure but I still have a preference to GTA 5. GTA 5 is a larger game and has a funner story to me. Also GTA has more edge to it.

I didn't play the entire game but two things that stand out the most to me is the size of the map and the variety of the world. Watch Dogs 2's map is HALF the size of the one in GTA 5 and while it focuses more on realism (being a map of San Fran), it feels empty and lacking for me. I loved the way it looked in the moment but GTA 5 was just done better.

I didn't play this at all and I don' remember why. I am going to have to check it out if it is similar to GTA. Even if it is smaller.

I enjoyed Watch Dogs 2 quite a lot and I know a lot of people like to make comparisons to GTA with it but for me, the open-world city space is where the similarities end.

I can see the points made. I mean it is a pretty big jump off in terms of map size. You can get around quickly because of it but I think it was meant to be more friendly to players traveling by foot considering what you have to do.

WD2 is more relaxed in my experience. Like you don't have to spend ages getting around and the focus is more so on the NPCs than the actual world they live in.

Watch Dogs 2 was a fun game but I would not consider it to be similar to GTA. I mean you would think it was but after you play both, you can feel and see the differences. It is in the same genre though.
