Which GTA 5 ending is considered canon?

I never actually figured this out. Like we have three endings but which is considered to be canon to the story in the franchise?

I would imagine which ever one lines up with the events online makes the most sense but would that be Trevor's death, Michael's death, or the deathwish ending?

Deathwish is the canon ending. If you follow the story into online with the missions/heists, it lines up with it the most. The other two are just option "for fun" endings but don't function with the online story.

This is what I thought and what most people say online. I am not sure what the point of the alternate endings even was if they don't tie directly into the main story. I guess it was just for fun.

I like that we had different options, even if only one ends up being canon. I am hoping they do the same thing in GTA 6.

I would imagine they do. A lot of people liked that you can get alternate endings. I am hoping they have even more in the next game.

I am sure GTA 6 will have some fun endings in it. maybe more in depth instead of just offing the characters.

If I recall correctly there was a video floating around that explained that the deathwish ending would've ended differently early in development, of course that could just be the Mandela effect.

I think Deathwish is the canon ending, and even if it weren't, I would have made it my head canon ending cause I wanted all three to survive!
